The Innovation Framework encourages both districts and schools to create innovation zones where risk-taking is encouraged and creative teaching, learning, and leadership is supported. Innovation is considered to be a process that brings together ideas and solutions in a way that they have an impact on society. Empowering teachers and leaders to reimagine and design the work of teaching and learning to meet the needs of today's learner is an innovation.
TEACH: Teaching is our core business and teachers are our greatest asset. We must ensure that all teachers are provided personalized, high-quality learning experiences that immediately impact their practice. The design and delivery of instruction is the one thing that will have the greatest impact on student achievement.
LEAD: Leadership is paramount to any continuous improvement efforts. The quality of leadership in an organization impacts the culture, the staff, the students and ultimately, the results. Creating a network of leader committed to learning from one another and willing to accept coaching and feedback will accelerate growth.
LEARN: Our collective purpose, as educators, is student learning. Creating learner-focused, collaborative teams is critical to our success. Teams that create actionable data through assessment, commit to research-based strategies for instruction, and that implement with relentless focus will create conditions for learning - for both adults and students alike. Coaching students to take ownership of their learning, set goals, and measure progress based on success criteria transforms students into learning partners and promotes a growth mindset.
DISTRICT PARTNERSHIPS: When districts focus energy toward building their own capacity and taking strategic, learner-focused actions, all schools will benefit from a strong culture and sustainable results. From strategic planning to resource allocation, from standards to curriculum development, from vision to leadership actions - districts can impact student learning. Districts play a critical role in creating conditions for success for schools and an emphasis on continuous improvement at the district level will have a positive result on all schools, all staff, all students and the community as a whole.
INNOVATION SUCCESS CRITERIA: Innovate 2 Educate has developed Five Core Components we use when partnering with Districts and Schools. Each Core Component includes a rubric with success criteria and implementation guidelines. The I2E Team offers an initial assessment of a district or school and provides timely feedback and recommendations for high leverage actions to impact learning.
